How Scania renewed its leadership training

How Scania renewed its leadership training

Case

Scania wanted to improve its leadership development programs in a number of ways without changing the content or compromising the quality.

Scania wanted to renew its management development programs, maintaining the same content as in previous programs, but with fewer training sessions. They expected increased satisfaction among clients and participants, and that the quality of the improvements would be measurably higher. It was important that managers were away from production for short periods, so this needed to be taken into account in the design of the program. Finally, they looked forward to the programs resulting in an overall increased efficiency of Scania's investment.

The programs were redesigned based on a blended learning approach where different activities were combined for learning, reflection and application. By increasing managerial involvement and using Mindset's Promote®software support, time was reduced by 25%, quality was measurable and participants were found to be more engaged in their own development. Participants were given follow-up tasks and support to put their learning into practice.
